Questions Answered

Do I need a forklift to unload the bench from the delivery truck?

Yes. Benches are packaged on a timber pallet and weigh between 90kg and 225kg.

How do I get the bench off the pallet?

2 people will be required to unwrap the packaging and slide/manoeuvre the bench from the pallet.

How much load will my bench/table take?

See below.

If my laboratory floor is uneven can I option jacking or levelling castors?

Yes. On acoustic benches and Diligent. No on Tractable and Contemporary and ex-new demonstrators.

What bench top materials are available?

Choices before ordering... high pressure laminated, compact laminate and chemical resistant. See Quality page.

On ex-new demonstrators check.

Can I remove the doors?

Yes. The acoustic enclosure section will need to have the wiring loom unplugged.

Can I remove the top to get through a standard door?

Yes. However, warranty may then be limited. Check with Lab Bench before attempt.

Does Lab Bench do full laboratory fit outs?

No. We only make specialised instrument benches and acoustic enclosures of the sizing shown +/- 100mm.

Further Information

Tractable

The Tractable was designed as a pre loading height adjustable load bearing LC table.

Not as a loaded height adjustable table. (ie not to be adjusted with instrument atop)

- Load bearing centered on bench top 130kg.

- Height must only be adjusted without a bench top load.

- 2 persons are required to adjust the load bearing spring pins. One person each end.

- Spring pins will be tight to push in. Ensure they have fully released before loading top.

- Instrument load must be centered on bench top between the front and rear.

- Failure to center the load may result in slight dipping toward the loaded edge.

- Instrument load can be bias toward one or other bench end.

- Bench tops and panels can be cleaned with warm soapy water and cloth.

- Tables will only be as level as the laboratory floor.

Contemporary

The Contemporary was designed as a pre loading height adjustable PC table.

Not as a load bearing height adjustable table.

- Height must only be adjusted without a bench top load.

- 2 persons are required to adjust the load bearing spring pins. One person each end.

- Spring pins will be tight to push in. Ensure they have fully released before loading top.

- Contemporary with top spreader bar has a limited load of 60kg. This was designed to fit the table in and around existing pipe and duct work.

PC tower hangers have limited positioning in this layout.

When wheeling this Contemporary version wheel end to end to reduce low frame stress.

- Contemporary with bottom spreader bar has a load bearing of 120kg. PC tower hangers have free positioning. Wheeling end to end is not an issue.

- Bench tops and panels can be cleaned with warm soapy water and cloth.

- Frames can be cleaned with warm soapy water and a cloth or mild stainless steel cleaner.

- Tables will only be as level as the laboratory floor.

Integrated Acoustic Enclosures (AE)

This design was intended for the modular layout and can be found in most benches.

An assumption is made that laboratories using an acoustic enclosure are air conditioned between 22deg. C and 25deg. c. This is the assumed ambient temperature for the AE. Check with Lab Bench on bench loading most benches will hold 400+kg.

Generation 1 (pre 12/23)

- Power for the AE is run through an integrated distribution board with RCBO.

- Check RCBO is operational and on. The transformer will be plugged into one of the 10amp GPO. Check this GPO is switched on at all times.

- A temperature controller controls the fan start up at 25 deg. and stop at 25 deg. The controller has an inline 12v fuse to be checked.

- The bench light has a similar set up with 12v inline fuse. The blue light surrounding the switch on the front of the bench should be on when the internal light is off. This will indicate everything is working.

- Doors can be adjusted for closing if over time there has been movement in the hinges.

Generation 2 (post 12/23)

- Power for the AE is run through a 10amp standard AU plug.

- The on/off switch is located at the rear where the IEC plug plugs in. The switch is located here to avoid being turned off without reason.

- A temperature controller controls the fan start up at 25 deg. and stop at 25 deg. The speeds of the fans vary depending on the internal temperature.

- An over temperature alarm is set at 50deg. C. A failure alarm and red light also exists.

- In the event of an alarm, firstly open the door and keep open to avoid pump overheating.

- Doors can also be removed for this and to fit the pump where there is no slide tray.

- Doors can be adjusted for closing if over time there has been movement in the hinges.

- Bench tops and panels can be cleaned with warm soapy water and cloth.

- Frames can be cleaned with warm soapy water and a cloth or mild stainless steel cleaner.

- Benches will only be as level as the laboratory floor.
